TEMPE, Arizona Wake Forest men’s tennis freshman Petros Chrysochos added to his impressive first-year resume on Monday when he was named thePetros Wake Forestcropped Intercollegiate Tennis Association Carolina Region Rookie of the Year. Petros, a mid-year addition to the Deacs, is the second Demon Deacon to earn the honor after Noah Rubin brought home regional and national rookie of the year honors last season.

Also named the ACC Freshman of the Year, Chrysochos has reached as high as No. 19 in the national singles rankings after going 17-0 at the No. 2 singles spot in the regular season, including a 10-0 mark in ACC play. He will enter the NCAA Tournament 9-1 against ranked opponents. Overall, Chrysochos is 21-3 in singles. The Second Team All-ACC honoree was selected to compete in the 2016 NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Singles Championships in Tulsa, Okla. later this month.

All regional award honorees are eligible for the Division I national awards, which will be announced on Tuesday, May 24.
