Melios ToffaMELIOS AMONG 8 BEST PLAYERS OF JUNIOR AUSTRALIAN OPEN 2017

Melbourn, 26.01.2017. - January 2017 and AO17 will remain in our memories as another one big success of our Academy. Menelaos Efstathiou has made an amazing tournament week and equalized the best result of Petros Chrysochos (2014) on the same grounds - playing a QF round of a junior Gran Slam tournament.

Melios made it playing from the qualification draw, so he has made 5 consecutive wins before falling 3:6 3:6 to Oliel (ISR), which player became runner-up of AO17 later. Melios's performances were excellent throughout the whole tournament but his biggest win was undoubtedly the one in round 16 where he managed to send home Vale (POR), top10 Junior of the world and No.6 seeded in the Junior AO17 draw.

Melios' new ITF Junior ranking should be around place No.80 from the coming Tuesday what should provide him direct place in the main draw of the next Gran Slam - Rolland Garros, Paris.

Melios QF AO17

CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU, MELIO !!

YOUR HARD WORK HAS BEEN PAID OFF !! KEEP WORKING HARD AND AIMING NEW HEIGHTS !!

Melios won in two straight sets 6:4 6:3 and showed that his potential is enormous.

Apart of success in category singles, Melios made nice progress in category Doubles on Cyprus F3 tournament, which has held in our academy, where he (partnering Neos) managed to play the SF round. That has brought him 4 ATP points in category Doubles.

MELIOS HAS MADE HIS FIRS TWO STEPS IN ATP PROFESSIONAL TENNISMelios 2016 F1resized

Nicosia, 18.11.2016. Last week has brought us lot of excitemenet and good news from Cyprus F1 ITF Futures 10000$ tournasmwnt, which took place in national Tennis Centre in Nicosia.

Our young player has recorded new good result in his already rich player's record and has oppened a door of professional tennis (ATP) circuit. Melios was granted a MD WC and he proved our expectations, even more than that. He hasn't only recorded a win in his openming match (Barkai (ISR) 6:0 7:5) but made the biggest upset of Day 2, when he sent off No.4 seeded Pauffley (GBR) with a brillant performance and in two straight sets 6:4 6:3.

Two ATP points will be recorded next to Melios' name and he will have for the very first time a professional ranking from the coming Tuesday. The position is not such important at this moment as his good momentum before other two Futures tournaments that will be played in Cyprus during next two weeks. The last one will be played in our Academy and we hope for his best performances there.

GO MELIOS, GO !!!

MELIOS EFSTATHIOU - BS FINALIST (RUNNER-UP) AT RAQUETTE D'OR Grade 3 ITF U18 TOURNAMENT IN CASABLANCA, MOROCCO

Casablanca, 29.10.2016.Melios has recorded another great result in his junior career. After an excellent week and four very well played matches Melios has reached the final of G3 tournament that was played in Casablanca, Morocco during last week. The way to finals wasn't easy at all. From the very first match, Melios had to push to his limits in order to progress further. Melios' road to the final was:

1st round Klimov (GER) 6:2 2:6 6:0
2nd round Baadi (CAN) 6:2 7:5
Quarterfinal Vilela (POR) 6:4 6:1
Semifinal Andreev (BUL) 2:0 (ret)

The final was booked against No.1 seeded player at this tournament Zakharov (RUS), which had quite a difficult semifinal match against Molloy (GBR) but he managed to progress into final with the final score 6:3 4:6 6:2.

The final has brought very close and tough first set where a tie-breaker had to decide the winner. At 5:5 Zakharov managed to win next two consecutve points and close the first set. The second set went to Zakharov also, where one break was enough to show the score 6:3 next to the name of Melios' opponent.

The Runner-up title is another great achievement of Melios and new points will improve his standing on ITF U18 ranking list from the coming Tuesday. A position around 160 is expected what would be Melios' best ever ITF U18 ranking position.

In category BD Melios, partnering Eleftherios Neos managed to progress into semifinal round where they haven't had appropriate response for the game of No1 seeded pair Molloy (GBR) / Zakharov (RUS) - the final score was 4:6 6:7(4). Unfortunately, a minor (knee) injury of Neos that has been deterring him from the beginning of the tournament, hasn't allowed him to offer his maximum in this demanding match of doubles.

BRAVO MELIO AND KEEP WORKING HARD !

HERODOTOU TENNIS ACADEMY PERFORMANCE ON CYPRUS THREE WEEKS ITF JUNIOR TOUR

September 2016 - Last three weeks Cyprus was an ITF U18 base with its three consecutive tournaments. Two of them were Cat.4 (our Academy ones and Aphrodite Cup in National Center, Nicosia) and one was Cat.5 (Larnaca Tennis Club).

Three ITF tournaments have offered a great chance to all our players to play international tournaments for three consecutive weeks at home grounds, face different challenges from foreign players and after all improve further their game and positions on ITF ranking lists. We are exceptionally satisfied with results of our juniors and congratulate to all of them on the achieved results.

The following table will show the best results of our team during last three weeks period:

The final, played against Oberleitner (AUT) / Stoeger (GER) was another one very good performance of Campbell / Neos and they won the match with the final score - 6:3 6:4.

RUNNER UP TITLE FOR DIMITRIS LIVERAS IN BEIRUT - YONEX GOLF CLUB ITF U18, Cat.5Finalists YONEX 2016 RESIZED

We were permanently uploading news from Beirut about great performance of Dimitri Livera (16) during last week. He has made a huge step forward in the very new tennis environment for him - ITF U18 category. His excellent performances during whole tournament week made us beleiving that the next three weeks, when Cypriot ITF U18 series tournaments will be on, Dimitris could make new big achievements. Simoultaneously, Dimitris' result in Beirut made us proud on our work, which would be impossible without great commitment of Dimitris himself !!

BRAVO DIMITRI ON YOUR EXCELLENT RESULT IN BEIRUT AND OUR WISHES FOR MANY MORE TO COME !!!

Final match in Beirut was against Samy Grace (EGY), which the opponent won with the final score 7:6(4) 6:4.

YONEX GOLF CLUB ITF U18 Cat.5 TOURNAMENT IN COLORS OF CYPRUS

Beirut 14.08.2016. - Lebanon was another place of great news for our Academy last week. Herodotou team was numerous and Anthia Panayiotou, Panayiotis Nearchou, Andreas Aravis, Nicholas Campbell and Dimitris Liveras took the Cyprus flag on sunny and melting hot courts of Yonex Golf Club in Beirut. All our players performed well and made significant wins for their further progress on ITF junior level but Campbell and Liveras made this tournament to be signed by their names.

Nicholas Cambell (17) who came back after long absence from tennis couCampbell Liverasrts (back injury) had to fight from qualification draw and he managed to pass three rounds in furious style giving us big hope that he will progress in the main draw also. Unlucky draw gave him a difficult opponent in the first round, No.3 seeded Rostami (IRI) and almost three sets (opponent abandoned at 0:2 in the final set) were needed to progress in the next round. Next two wins, against Shawky (EGY) and Hallak (LIB) were a path to semifinal round, where an all-Cypriot clash was booked - Nicholas against another one player of our Academy, Dimitri Liveras.

Dimitri Liveras (16) has had nothing less difficult road to semifinal except being less tired not playing qualification rounds. But, Dimitris has had the pressure of playing his first ever ITF tournament abroad, just third in his junior carrer. The first round match has put Liveras against No.6 seeded Khalil (MAR) and two sets were enough to progress in the next round where he has repeated high-level performance and eliminated a qualifier Sadek (LIB). For Dimitris' quarterfinal match against No.2 seeded Alkotop (JOR) nobody has had, even in the most optimistic wishes an idea that it will end up in two straight sets and made Dimitris progressing in semifinal, to play against Campbell.

The match between Liveras and Campbell was an almost three hours long battle covered with the same wish - to book their first ITF final and fight for the title. The clash of our two juniors had to be decided in the final set and until 4:4 nobody was possible to predict the winner, but Liveras has managed in that moment better concentration and probably benefited from playing three matches less than his opponent so the final score was 6:4 0:6 6:4 - Dimitri Liveras could celebrate his first final appearance in his VERY FIRST ITF appearance abroad !!!

WE CONGRATULATE TO BOTH PLAYERS ON THEIR ASTONISHIG RESULTS IN BEIRUT AND WISH THEM MANY NEW SUCCESSES TO COME !!!

MELIOS EFSTATHIOU - TWO WEEKS OF HIS SUPREMACY IN UZBEKISTAN

Uzbekistan 01-12.08.2016. - Last two weeks were full of great results of our best junior player.Melios Dimitris NBU Cup 2016RESIZED Participation on two Grade 3 tournaments were big challenge and big test of Melios' abilities to compete the highest level of U18 tennis internationally. And, he did it. Flawlessly. The first week tournament, NBU Cup Cat.3 in Tashkent was almost an one-man-show because Melios hasn't allowed a single set to all his opponents throughout the tournament. In five matches, he has allowed his opponents just 24 games in total. That gives an impressive record of 2.4 (less than three) per set. On the way to winner title, Melios (being seeded No.5) had to fight against No.1 (quarterfinal), No.3 (semifinal) and No.7 (final) seeded players. All the tasks he did perfectly well and winner title was in his hands without any shadow over it.

The second week tournament, Grade 3 ITF Fergana Cup brought almost the same conditions - Melios (seeded No.6) was on the run again. In first two rounds he allowed his opponents 5 games in total. The quarterfinal match, against Erel (TUR) was the match with lot of pressure even before it has started. Erel (TUR) No.4 seeded (ITF ranked No.230) was our big debtor from Jordan earlier this year, where he was more successful in two consecutive finals against Melio. But, the pressure was evident on both sides - Melios had to stop negative record against Erel yet Erel was facing evident problem to remain in competition. The match was qualified as the final before final and it proved such qualification. Both players were with a set next to their names and final set had to decide who will be progressing further, most probably to the title of Fergana Cup. An early 3:1 lead for Melio, together with 40:15 in the fifth game gave a sweet feeling that the end will be our big celebration. But, Erel has proved his highest level and managed to withstand this pressure by taking the game and bringing the score to more comfortable 2:3. Melios was leading in the next change over also - 4:3, but that was the moment where probably all stress and tiredness of very difficult two weeks have come onto surface and Erel, firstly evened 4:4 and took next two games thus ending this almost three hours long match.

With the title in BD category (partnering Leftherios Neos) Melios has sealed two very successful weeks and awaits new ITF U18 ranking list on coming Monday, where a number around 160 should be next to his name. An excellent achievement indeed, which asks for further and even higher aims, but one fact is more than evident - MELIOS IS CAPABLE TO REACH THE HIGHEST LEVELS OF ITF JUNIOR TOUR AND HE IS ON THE WAY TO ITS TOP.

MELIOS EFSTATHIOU - THE WINNER OF NBU CUP, Grade 3 ITF U18 TOURNAMENT IN TASHKENT, UZBEKISTAN !!!Melios Trophy

Tashkent, 06.08.2016. - The best possible end of a great tournament week for Melios - the WINNER of ITF U18 Grade 3 tournament in Uzbekistan !! The whole week was amazing, Melios was cruising safely toward the final where he performed another one, fifth consecutive win in two straight sets this week and the opponent, Valiev (RUS) was defeated with final score 6:2 7:5 !!

Before its beginning, the final match looked to be a battle of two equally good players, which haven't allowed a single set to their opponents from the beginning of the tournament, with a small difference that Melios was more successful and gave three games less to all his opponents (17, against 20 games, which Valiev lost until the final match). But, the final match turned into one-man-show where the opponent hasn't created any situation to endanger Melios' safe cruise to the title at any moment, not even in the second set when the scoreboard was showing 5:5.

This title is very important for Melios because 60 new ITF ranking points will put him among 200 best world junior players for the first time. Additionally, Melios will have a chance to improve further his new ranking because the team (Dimitris Herodotou, Melios Efstathiou and Lefteris Neos) doesn't leave Uzbekistan but move to Fergana, the town where another Grade 3 ITF U18 tournament starts on coming Monday and both our players start competition in the Main Draw.

GOOD LUCK MELIO AND CONGRATULATIONS FOR YOUR BIG RESULT ON NBU CUP IN TASHKENT!!!!

MELIOS CRUISED INTO THE FINAL OF NBU CUP, TASHKENT (UZB) !!!Melios SemifinalUzbekistan 2016resized

Tashkent (UZB), 05.08.2016. - Beatiful news from Tashkent this morning - our best junior player has recorded fourth consecutive win on this tournament and progressed into tomorrow's final. Melios's semifinal match today was another one win in two straight sets and it give us an impression that his form and attitude are in perfect balance. Carlos Kelaidis (SUI) hasn't had a proper answer for Melios' game and the match was ended with the final score 6:3 6:1 for our player.

BRAVO MELIO, KEEP GOING ON AND GOOD GAME TOMORROW FOR THE TITLE !!!

MELIOS ON ONE STEP FROM THE FINAL OF GRADE 3 ITF TOURNAMENT IN TASHKENT, UZBEKISTAN !!!

Tashkent, Uzbekistan 04.08.2016. - Melios has recorded one of the best wins in his career and will play in tomorrow's semifinal for booking a place in the big final of NBU Cup, an ITF Cat.3 tournament, which takes place in Tashkent (UZB).

Melios QuarterFinal win

Today's match was a true challenge for our player because he met in quarter-final No.1 seeded player Abzalov (UZB) (ITF current ranking No.146, best No.111) and outplayed him in two straight sets 7:6(8) 6:3. The first set was a tight match between two strong players, which had to be decided in tie-break where Melios showed great concentration and excellent game - 10:8 in the tie-break gave a set advantage to our player. The second set looked like a formality after the fast 3:0 advantage for Melios, but next two games went to the opponent and 3:2 was a good signal for Melios to push harder and materiliaze such game - the scoreboard showed 5:2 soon. Melios hasn't allowed any further surprises and cruised safely to the match point, sealing the second set with the score 6:3. Thus, Melios booked the place in tomorrow's semi-final where he will meet Carlos Kelaidis (SUI).

Simultaneously, category Boys Doubles brought a lot of surprises and our double Efstathiou/Neos were on a step from tomorrow's final in that category. Today's semifinal match against Sultanbekov (UZB) / Turgunov (UZB) started not so good for our players (3:6) but the second set showed good tennis of both teams so the set went into tie-break, which Melios and Lefteris took quite easy (7:1). The winner had to be decided in match tie-break where 9:7 advantage of our team smelled like a win but the next four points went to the opponents and they finally won with final score 9:11.

Parson Malta 2016resized

Corradino, Malta 15.07.2016. - Our young and tallented junior player, Pavlos Parson couldn't make a better debut appearance on TE Junior Tour - WINNER of Boys Doubles category is an astonishing result and a big boost for his future development.

Partnering Den Ouden (HOL) they have made a great run to the title - 32 Draw and being unseeded, they had to face big challenges. Thus, No.2 seeded pair Gulin (RUS) / Ovechkin (RUS) were overplayed and sent out after their quarterfinal clash (6:2 6:3) as well as No.1 seeded pair Homberg (GER) / Politowics (POL) in the big final after a true drama in three sets match. Facing a set down as well against the match pioint for the opponents in the final match tie-break set (8:9) Pavlos and Den Ouden showed great concentration and big wish to reach the very end of their difficult road. The score in the final set was 11:9 so Pavlos and his partner got well deserved WINNER trophies of the Boys Doubles category.

UNSTOPPABLE ELENI LOUKA - ANOTHER ONE WINNER TITLE TE U16 !!!Eleni Louka Masters 2016

Nicosia, 23.04.2016. - It seems that our most talented U16 girl can't be stopped on her way to the U16 top of Europe. For the third consecutive week Eleni kept her winning streak. Coming back from GD Tennis Cup (Antalya) with Runner-up title three weeks ago, Eleni made two Cypriot TE U16 tournaments to be signed with her name. Both on our Cat.2 and Masters Tennis Academy's Cat.3 tournament Eleni has offered the highest possible level of tennis game for that group age.

Not only that Eleni has dominated all the way through the tournament in Nicosia, but the final was her impressive seal over astonishing three weeks performances. In Masters Tennis Academy's final match she met again Yersh (BLR), the same opponent from the final of the tournament in our academy last week. If the final in our academy needed third set to decide the winner, the final in Nicosia was the pure tennis art of Eleni. In an unstoppable way she dominated over Yersh in all aspects of the game. Finally, 6:0 6:0 was a score that could sound like a first round match of Eleni but not over No.7 ranked (TE race to Masters 2016) player of the Europe.

CONGRATULATIONS ELENI AND KEEP UP WITH YOUR GOOD PERFORMANCES !

Her performance was far the best in the category Girls singles and her result is spotless indeed. Eleni played all her matches on very high level and proved all our expectations. On her way to the final she hasn't dropped a single set, including the semi-final match against Krupenina (RUS), which was seeded No.1 (6:2 6:3) in the Girls Singles' draw.

The final match was a three set battle against Yersh (BLR) but Eleni hasn't allowed any surprise. 6:2 3:6 6:3 was the final score and Eleni was awarded the Winner trophy and new 160 TE ranking points, which should bring her in the top 100 U16 girls of the Europe.

Apart in singles matches, Eleni was very successful in Girls Doubles category also, where she and her partner, Gkokou (GRE) lost the final match against Krupenina (RUS) / Yersh (BLR) and became Runner Up of Herodotou 2016 TE U16 Tournament.

Her great tournament week in both categories you can see hereRunners Up TE U16 2016

CHRYSOCHOS/SERDARUSIC WINNERS OF CATEGORY DOUBLES IN LIMASSOL FAMAGUSTA CYPRUS F2 TOURNAMENT !!! Winners Doubles F2 resized

As we wished yesterday, Petros partnering Serdarusic (CRO) made a copy/paste of their last week success in category Men Doubles, but this time in Limassol Famagusta Cyprus F2 ITF 10000 $ Futures Tournament and against different opponent - Artunedo Martinavarr (ESP) partnering Diez (CAN).

Everything was a copy of the last week - a three set drama. The match begun not so great for our team and the first set was lost quickly - 1:6. Fortunatelly, Petros and Nino stroke back and the big fight resulted with taking of the second set - 6:4 and the match got evened at one set all. A match tie-break had to decide the winner. Keeping the focus and concentration at that moment on high level Chrysochos/Serdarusic won the match tie-break - 10:3 and wrote another big success next to their names - Winners of Cyprus F2 - Famagusta ITF Futures 10000$ Tournament. BRAVO GUYS, EXCELLENT JOB AGAIN !!!

COPY/PASTE OF CHRYSOCHOS/SERDARUSIC IN LIMASOL F2 MEN DOUBLESChrysochos Serdarusic resized

Limassol F2 brings us nice set of tennis news so far.

Petros was progressing easily in first two rounds of the MS draw of Famagusta ITF Pro Circuit 10.000$ Tournament and will meet 20 years old Jankovic (SER) ATP No 337 in quarter final match tomorrow.
The game of our best player was very solid in first two rounds so we expect with reason a great match and a positive outcome tomorrow. Good luck, Petro !!!

Meanwhile, in category Men Doubles Petros partnering Serdarusic (CRO) made an identical road like last week in Nicosia - they won first three matches and will play against Spanish double Martinavarro/ Diez in the final match tomorrow. We believe that they are going to use the copy/paste technique of the final match from Nicosia F1 Men Doubles Final also.

Nicosia 17.11.2015. - The first out of three ITF Futures 10000 $ Tournaments have just started and the first round MS main draw brought some very good matches. Our academy has had its two representives - Petros Chrysochos, which is seeded player (No.4) and Melios Efstathiou who was granted a WC by organizer.

Petros has succeded in his opening match against Constantinos Ioannides (Ioannides Tennis Academy, Limassol) - 7:5 7:5, while our young and promising junior haven't managed to surprise more experienced player Ofner (AUT) seeded No.8 on this tournament and with world ranking ATP No.825. The match has started great for Melio and his ofensive and aggressive game gave him very fast advantage - 4:0. Ofner's experience played an important role in that moment and he managed a come back and he won the first set - 7:5. Although Melio employed big effort in the second set he hasn't managed to surprise again the opponetnt. Ofner has cruised into safe end of the match 7:5 6:3.

On his way to quarterfinal the most demanding match was his second round match against No9 seeded player M.Haliak (BLR) (No.190 ITF), which he managed to win with score - 6:3 3:6 6:3. New points, which were collected after this tournament will help Melio to improve further his standing on ITF junior list and most probabaly his new ranking will be around position No.330 from the coming Tuesday. It is good to know that Melios has opened this 2015 tennis season with ITF standing around position No.1700, so his progress upward is for more than 1300 places by the moment. THE GODS WEREN'T WITH PETROS THIS TIME!!! THE RAIN HAS BROUGHT SALVAGE TO BASIC MIRZA (BIH) (No 148)!!!

22.09.2015. is the day when the Gods decided to give a hand to Petros' oppponent, BASIC Mirza (BIH) (No 148) and help him in the opeTennis ball rainning match of the Main Draw of Folkart Izmir 65.000 $ ATP Challenger Series tournament.

Apart of the unlucky position where Petros ended up in the main draw (this was by far the most difficult one, out of four possible), his excellent performance momentum was stopped not by the game of his opponent but the weather situation, which came at the worst possible (for Petros) moment. The whole match was a great battle between two, by quality even players. In the first set both players kept their service games and the set went into tie-break, where older and much more experienced BASIC created a small advantage and took the first set with 7:4 score in the tie-break.

The tie-break outcome didn't cause any psychological damage and fall of our player so he started in a great way - he was leading 3:0, than 4:3, finally 5:4 and just before to start his service game (Petros was impressive in his service games until that moment) the umpire decided to suspend the match due to rain, which made the court unplayable. Going back to the court after 45 minutes break, the things were like always in such situations - the opponent being boosted up by invisible "Gods' message" hasn't had to much troubles to collect next three games and seal the win in a bit unjustice way - 7:6(4) 7:5.

We feel dissapointed about the way how the match ended, but the hand of destiny sometimes make even the best try worthless. But, if any solace - Petros has shown us that he belongs to the group of high-quality ATP players and ready to compete any player being ranked 100-200 ATP in this moment.

Petro, KEEP CALM & GO ON.

WHAT A NEWS FOR HERODOTOU TENNIS ACADEMY !!!! PETROS HAS MADE IT THROUGH !!!! PETROS IS IN THE MAIN DRAW OF IZMIR 65.000 $ ATP CHALLENGER WITH SECURED 5 NEW ATP POINTS !!!

Petros Tsitsipas Izmir 2015

21.09.2015. is the date that Herodotou Tennis Academy will keep in its records with special feelings !!!

PETROS CHRYSOCHOS managed after two and a half hours great battle against Tsitsipas (GRE)(No784) 3:6 6:3 6:3, to complete successfuly the qualification draw and take place in the main draw of FOLKART Izmir Cup, a 65.000 $ ATP Challenger Series tournament.

It is extraordinary good feeling to know that our young tennis star did it (as always) hard way, without any WC and fighting at the highest possible level. His coach, Demetris Herodotou who is accompanying Petros this time, has reported that the match was a true expamle of ultimate mental discipline and full psychological control over the very difficult opponent during the whole match.

We do hope that MD matches will keep bringing us exciting news from Petros and that 5 points, which are rewarded to all qualificants that has finished successfuly the qualification draw, will be multiplied by new successful performances of our young tennis star !!!

GO PETRO, GO !!!

20.09.2015. ATP CHALLENGER SERIES - IZMIR, Turkey - PETROS CHRYSOCHOS starts with an easy win in a new environmentlogo header

ATP Challenger LogoPetros Chrysochos started impressively his first ever ATP Challenger tournament. Izmir (TUR) hosts 64.000 $ ATP Challenger Series tournament and our prominent young athlete looks for his first ever participation in the main draw of some Challenger tournament. Petros (seeded No8 in qualification draw) was bye in the first round and in the second round he met a Japanese player Keisuke Numajiri (No 1417), which has no answer for Petros' very strong and agressive game - 6:3 6:1 was the score, which gives a lot of confidence to our player before his tomorrow's final round match in qualification draw with a huge stake - MAIN DRAW OF IZMIR CHALLENGER TOURNAMENT.

Tomorrow'a oponent will be young (17 y.) and very talented Greek player, Stefanos Tsitsipas (No 784) which played a great match today and won over No1 seeded qualification draw player Hiroyasu Ehara (No 341) from Japan - 6:1 1:6 6:3.
